Frank Thomas has an estimated net worth of $60 million
Frank Thomas is a former American professional baseball player with an estimated net worth of $60 million. Thomas solidified himself as one of MLB’s best hitters and first basemen during the 1990s. He played for the Chicago White Sox for 15 years. He is 6’5″ and weighs 275 pounds. Frank Edward Thomas, Jr. was born on May 27, 1968 in Columbus, Georgia. A standout athlete growing up, Thomas was a 3-sport star at Columbus High School in Georgia. Although he hoped to go straight into professional baseball after graduating high school, he wasn’t drafted and accepted a scholarship to play baseball and football at Auburn University, although injuries soon had him focus exclusively on baseball. After a standout college career, he was selected with the seventh pick in the 1989 Major League Baseball Draft by the Chicago White Sox.
Thomas would make his major league debut in 1990 and early on showed his capacity to hit for power and average, draw walks and be patient in the batter’s box. In only his second year in the bigs he finished third in MVP voting, with a .318 average, 32 home runs and 109 RBIs. His next year was even better as he hit .317, with 41 home runs and 128 RBIs. That year he won his first Most Valuable Player Award, a feat he would repeat the next year in 1994, after he hit 38 home runs, 106 RBIs and batted .353, in a strike-shortened season. Thomas would go on to be the only player in MLB history to have seven straight seasons of at least 20 home runs, a .300 or better average, 100 walks, 100 runs and 100 RBIs.
Although he set numerous White Sox records, Thomas left the team in 2006 and joined the Oakland Athletics, followed by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2006, after signing a 2-year $18 million contract. In 2007, Thomas hit his 500th career home run, but injuries started to get the better of him and he would sign with the Athletics once more, in 2008, before ending his career officially in 2010. Thomas was nicknamed “The Big Hurt” for his size and penchant for hitting with power. He is considered a likely Hall-of-Famer. In his post-baseball career, Thomas serves as CEO and founder of W2W Records, a record label with a stable of hip hop artists. Over his career, Thomas’ popularity made him a regular on television and film, including cameos in the movie Mr. Baseball and an appearance on Married with Children. Thomas has been married twice and has two sons and two daughters.
